Our Director and Nominated Supervisor

Director, Petrae McLean, is a qualified Early Childhood Teacher, holds a Bachelor in Business and the Arts, a senior first aid and CPR certificate, approval to work with young children, and Food Safety Supervisor Certification. With 20+ years experience in Finance and Information Technology, Petrae understood the importance of Early Childhood Education to our community and having previously chosen to raise their family on Macleay Island, together with partner Paul, took over the operation of the Macleay Island Childcare in mid 2010. Mother of twin boys, Petrae initially took on the role of After School and Vacation Program Co-ordinator, until 2013 when, having graduated as an Early Childhood Specialist Teacher. she became the Kindergarten Teacher and more recently the Director and Nominated Supervisor. Petrae believes that our children are this nations most precious resource and that educating our children, the future leaders of the nation, is a great privilege and even greater responsibility.

Our Educational Leader and Kindergarten Teacher

Kindergarten Teacher, Lisa Mooney, who holds a Bachelor in Primary Teaching which combined with a Diploma in Children's Services, is an Early Childhood Specialist Teacher, with a senior first aid and CPR certificate and approval to work with young children. Lisa has vast teaching experience in Primary, including Prep, as well as Kindergarten and childcare, and is respectfully known as the 'child whisperer'. As the Educational Leader for our service, Lisa supports all Educators in development and delivery of the children's educational programs and in the Educators professional development, facilitating in-house training, formal qualification study sessions and work placements.

Our Lead Educators and Relief Lead Educators

Lead Educators are qualified Assistant Educators who have also completed (or are currently completing studies towards) a Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent, hold a senior first aid and CPR certificate, an approval to work with young children, and training in Basic Food Handling. Lead Educators develop and with the assistance of Relief Lead Educators deliver and document our learning programs and the individual learning journeys of the children in their care.

Our Assistant Educators

Assistant Educators hold (or are currently completing studies towards) a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education or equivalent, hold a senior first aid and CPR certificate, an approval to work with young children and training in Basic Food Handling. Our Assistants support Lead Educators in the delivery of our learning programs and in the care of the children.

Our Bus Co-ordinators

Bus Co-ordinators hold (or are currently completing studies towards) a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education or equivalent, hold an open Australian Drivers License, a senior first aid and CPR certificate, approval to work with young children and training in Basic Food Handling and the fitting and age appropriate use of child vehicular safety restraints. As many of the children attending this service transit to/from home via the courtesy (free) buses, our bus co-ordinator's are front-line service representatives providing an essential communication channel with many families.
